COVID-19 Information/Risk Assessment
This document is for any MRC member who would like to run in a group with other MRC members. The following rules are requested to be followed (along with National Government guidelines) to ensure safety for all participants and the general public, all runs are at the participants’ own risk.
MRC Committee Ask:
All members to be honest when signing up to a run, to ensure:
  • There are no known COVID-19 symptoms* in the person’s household
  • That you have not been advised to shield or deem yourself as high risk due to COVID-19
  • The participant has the ability to run at the speed and the distance stated in the session
  • Is a fully paid member of MRC
MRC Rules:
  • All sessions to be no more than 6 people
  • All participants keep 2 meters apart from other runners where possible and members of the public (apply common sense and take responsibility to stay safe and ensure the safety of others)
  • All sessions to be created via MRC Facebook group and to be open to all members
  • Each session created on MRC Facebook to clearly state:
  •          Start time of the run
  •          Speed of the planned run
  •          Distance of the planned run
  •          Rough route of the planned run (also advisable to state if a flat route or hilly, road or off road, etc)
  •          Rough meeting location (if outside of Mickleover) – once signed up location to be given
  • Only paid members can sign up for a session
  • Unqualified Run Leaders (any MRC member, to be known as a Run Co-ordinator) can set-up a session on the MRC Facebook page, but these runs are conducted at the group’s own risk and not covered by MRC or England Athletics’ Insurance
  • Run Leader/Co-ordinator to appoint or ensure a tail runner is nominated
  • Run Leader/Co-ordinator to carry:
  •          A mobile phone (with either or both Welfare officer and/or the Membership Secretary telephone number in case of an emergency to inform Next of Kin)
  •          An item that can be used as a face covering (or carry a facemask) and gloves/hand sanitiser (in the event of an accident and first aid needs to be administered)
Do not run in a group:
  • All sessions to be no more than 6 people
  • with a group if you have not booked on the session via MRC Facebook group (need to know for track and trace purposes)
  • with, or if any member of your household has COVID-19 symptoms*
  • if you have been advised to shield due to, or deem yourself as high risk due to COVID-19
  • wearing a facemask (optional to arrive at the meeting point with a face mask or face covering)

*The main symptoms of COVID-19 are:
  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
